The word “sights, in this podcast, means interesting things or places to see while on vacation, usually famous places that most visitors would want to see: “When you see the sights in New York City, don’t forget to visit the Empire State Building.” “Sight” is one of the five senses and refers to one’s ability to see: “Is it always true that people’s sight get worse as they get older?” The phrasal verb “to lose sight of” means to no longer be able to see something: “Dad waved to us on the ship until we lost sight of him.” “To lose sight of” can also mean to fail to remember or consider something, usually while doing something else: “As you try to become successful as a singer, don’t lose sight of the fact that making music, and not money, is your goal.” to go by In this podcast, “to go by” means for someone or something to pass or for time to pass: “Julianna sat by the window and watched the cars go by.” Or, “As the days went by, we lost hope that we would find our lost dog.” “To go into” means to start to study something or to start a career in something: “Everyone thought that Daniel would go into law, but he decided to go into medicine instead.” “To go into” can also mean to investigate or to ask more questions about something: “We don’t have time to go into what happened. To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing regarding a tour that my wife and I took with your company on February 26, 2006. The brochure stated that we would see some of the most interesting sights of the city. Since we had visited the city before, we looked forward to seeing some new attractions.
On the morning of February 26, our tour guide picked us up in a small van. It did not look like any tour bus I had ever seen. Our tour guide drove us to the waterfront area and said that we could explore the area on our own. The tour guide
