The word “rough,” in this podcast, means not gentle or smooth, and involving a lot of careless physical force that may accidentally hurt others: “Don’t you worry that your dogs are too rough with the baby?” The word “rough” can also be used informally to mean difficult or challenging: “Wow, that exam was rough!
